Hi there,
Could you please attach the log file for one of the failed iDrive backups?
It will help us to identify the problem. You could use Pastebin to share it.
Best regards,
Nick
First I will post Google Drive pastebin link that worked fine in 2 or 3 parts
I have checked this backup and is ok.

Hi there,
Thank you for the log files. They indicate a great many resumptions with the iDrive E2 backup.
The Google backup only has 3, the iDrive E2 backup has 33. Hence there’s a big time difference.
As a first step to eliminating so many resumptions could you please try the following for me?
In Settings >> Expert settings >> Show expert settings >> Split archives every: enter 25MB.
This should help overall performance and help maintain the connections which were dropped.
Once you’ve had a chance to test this please let me know if there’s a backup time improvement.
Best regards,
Nick
The split size did not help to complete any backup.
To Google Drive, the approximate round trip times in milli-seconds is:
Minimum = 14ms, Maximum = 14ms, Average = 14ms
To iDrive E2 bucket in Miami (the best one I get, because the other locations get worst): Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 129ms, Maximum = 132ms, Average = 131ms
The answer from iDrive E2 is that I need to choose the nearest location.
I’m from Montevideo Uruguay in South America.
So is it okay to say that iDrive E2 is so far from my location that it is not a good option for my backups?
Hi there,
Thank you for the update. I’m sorry the archive size change didn’t help improve speeds.
From your time measurements it does look like things will be much slower with iDrive E2.
Based on your testing against Google I would have to agree iDrive is not the best option.
The longer roundtrips and any connection instability may well cause many resumptions.
As you’ve experienced, each disconnect and resumption creates an additional time delay.
The 33 resumptions in your previous iDrive 2 log file added up to a much longer backup.
Best regards,
Nick
