1. As it is set, it will NEVER display at rootxperts.com, only at rootxperts.com/wordpress – if there wasn’t a server problem. Get a decent host, those guys dont’ know what they are doing.
2. Set the correct URL values in admin > Setting > General to where your WP install is. I assume it would be http:/
Warning: not knowing how your host is setting up domains/sites… #2 might also break whatever is there but what you have now is wrong anyway.
Skip WordPress for a bit.
Until you can upload a file index.htm to the directory that the hosting service tells you is the “root” of your web site, and then browse to rootxperts.com and see that file, the rootxperts.com domain has not been configured correctly.
Once you can do that, then look at WordPress.
If you’ve already done that, look at http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
to see the instructions for the index.php file (delete the index.htm if you used the test above) that needs to live in the root of the web site. [You can skip steps 1 and 6 if you already have your files in the wordpress subdirectory.]
I followed Moshu’s advice and I think I FUBAR’d my blog. Not sure even what happened, I can’t login or out to change the blog values of where it is sending me. All that is coming up is 404 not found? Where do I fix that at, and note that currently I can’t get access to the wordpress side of things due to the redirection problems.
Any advice?
OK, I warned you!
We both told you: that site (server) is NOT set up correctly, so if your host says it is OK, they are completely wrong.
Since this is a new blog, delete everything and try to follow converting2wp’s advice. Until the index.html doesn’t work there is nothing you can do about, except bugging your host every minute to fix it.
I got it back, i can get into wordpress now. Any further advice is appreciated.
hey, i am trying to go through doing this, but am having trouble finding the .htaccess files. Where do i find that so I can move copy that with the index.php file?
How does that step work?
As it was said above: do not touch the WP but go and fix that domain/server.
Until you are not able to see an index.html at the URL – it means the domain is not working.
Looks like you got it working. If you didn’t have a .htaccess file in your WordPress directory, then you won’t need one in the folder above /wordpress. It’s index.php that does the magic.
