When the site administrator adds images with captions to site in the WordPress admin area using IE8, we often see the new images disappearing and multiple pre-existing captions combining into 1 large caption under a pre-existing image instead seeing the newly added image and new caption. Everything works fine when I add the image for the admin using Firefox. Plugins have been disabled and restarted one at a time and the results are the same. There was a post I found on the issue (http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/adding-images-and-captions-is-a-problem…”the text and images become a part of the first image”) but there was no answer. Does anyone have any advice?

    Thanks

Do you have a link showing an example of this?

I do not have a LIVE example, as the site owners had me fix the pages that were broken, so I fixed them using FireFox. But, here is an example page that might help me explain what is happening:
    http://belectricinc.com/practice-page/

If I were to add a new image with caption HELLO to this page using IE8, a new picture would NOT display in the open slot in the second row. Instead, the HELLO caption for the one I tried to add might show up in the first image of the row, along with any other pictures’ captions.

So, we might have the first image in that row (now called COFFEE CUP) and its caption might say CoffeeCup9:58123456789HELLO, and all of the other pictures in that row would disappear. It’s like all of the images on a row are combined into one picture ONLY when IE8 is used by the admin to add pics with captions.

    Thank you.

    Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). Don’t forget the ones in mu-plugins if you have that folder. If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    Alas…it still happens.
    🙁
    Thanks for the suggestions.

Has anyone else seen this happening in IE8 or possibly IE9?

Are there image plugins anyone has used and might recommend that work a little differently that the default image captions in 3.3.2?

    Thanks
