This appears to be a bug with the image compression script on 2.7.1. Anyone know what the heck is going on? I’m getting it on nearly every uploaded image these days. Here are a few more examples:
15 pixel white space at the bottom:

Grey area at the bottom-right:

Large white section at the bottom of the image:

I’m on FF3 and Safari 3 on a MAC. I don’t know what these images look like in IE. They look the worst on Safari though.
Does anyone know if this is a known bug?
Anyone!?!?! This is getting annoying and has just recently shown it’s ugly face on nearly all my compressed images regardless of their origin (fireworks, raw, iPhoto, 3rd party, etc.).
HELP!!!
Here’s another one from a post this morning. The image was unmodified prior to uploading to WP Media:

It just looks like the compression engine stops working once it gets to the bottom of the image and just craps out. What’s going on here?
powderboy, hey, responding from Twitter. Let me look at it real quick. It has the same problem in IE6 as well. So I don’t think it’s a browser issue.
Great, uploading an image through the media manager I got an out of memory error. That’s not good either. I’ll try a smaller image size. This image was 3008×2000.
Back in a few.
Can you give me you step by step process? Each option you choose, what is the uploaded images original size.
Have you received any upload errors?
I never receive any upload errors. It all seems to upload just fine. I think it’s related to FF3 on OSX because when I upload the images in Safari 3, it never happens:
File Uploaded (Browser) with Safari 3.2.1:

File Uploaded with FF3 (Flash)

File Uploaded with FF3 (Browser):

I guess I’ll just make sure and use Safari from now on until the FF 3.0.8 MAC issues are figured out.
See how the bottom two images are cut off? odd…
It’s not just WordPress… check out my background image on my twitter account:

So, this appears to be a FF3 issue on Mac. Uggh. I love it when I find bugs!!! Not.
I get this EXACT same problem using the latest 2.8 version. I’m on a MAC using Safari v. 4. ANNOYING and don’t have a fix????
I also get the same problem using FIREFOX on a MAC.
