image date gets overwritten after upload

hi
i’m using wordpress v. 3.7.1 and nextgen V 2.0.33.

the problem: all the pictures which i’ve uploaded into a gallery did get a new date time stamp. this time stamp is taken from the server’s local time.

so if i now want to sort all pictures in a gallery according to the date ascending, i will get the order in which they have been uploaded onto the server and not on which date the picture has been taken.

is there a way:
– that the modified date won’t be modified again during the upload process
or
– that the picture taken date could be used for sorting the images in a gallery
