no, I do not see how AO could be implicated Michael.

Thank you Frank. I didn’t think so, just clutching at straws! I have a feeling it may have something to do with Ecwid but am having difficulty finding concrete evidence. Have a good weekend.
Michael.
Hi Michael,
This is Matt from Ecwid.
It should be easy to check whether some particular plugin causes that — just disable it for a minute and check if the issue is still there. So, you can temporarily disable the Ecwid plugin and try uploading/managing files in Media Library — if the issue is gone, Ecwid must have something to do with it. If so, please let us know and we’ll have a look.
Thanks,
Thanks for your reply Matt. Several of the files were product images for the Ecwid shop which I had not uploaded (I would never name the file 1261487866.jpg for example) and were attached to Ecwid products. I tried detaching, but an error message along the lines of you don’t have permission to do this popped up. So I deleted them.
These were the files:

If I start getting the filename alterations again, I will disable the plugin as you suggest and take it from there.
Oh, I see, thanks for the clarification.
Can you explain what was your initial goal with that renaming? What did you want to achieve so you needed to rename/detach media files?
I didn’t rename the files.
Hello Matt, I have just worked out what was happening. The images are being added by Ecwid. Under Ecwid — Advanced settings, there is an “Integration with search on your site” option that can be set. If this is ticked and “Synchronize products” is clicked, the images get inserted into the media library with the long random number filenames. These appear to be inserted so that my site search can return an image with the text result. I’ve tested and this is definitely what is happening. At least I know what it is now.
Thanks for the update. Yes, you’re correct — the local product sync tool indeed copies product data including images to WordPress. I should have assumed that earlier, sorry.
Does that cause any problem in your case?
Hi Matt, no it doesn’t cause an issue now that I know what it is doing. It actually works quite well to include the product images in my site search results.
