So when you added the images did you add them individually or did you click “Add Media” then “Create Gallery”? And in “Theme Options > Misc Settings you’ve set Enable Virtue Galleries to override WordPress” to “On” correct?

Yes, the override function is set to “on”. I turned it off and on again but that didn’t help.
Here’s what I did:
– I uploaded the 2 images some time ago.
– I clicked “Add Media” on the page and clicked “create gallery”
– Selected the two images in the media overview and clicked insert gallery.
I inserted 4 other demo pictures now but it doesn’t work yet. I can also modify what happens by clicking on the pictures (file page, direct file or no link).
I’m using the free Virtue theme by the way, but that should include the Virtue gallery as on the demo page shouldn’t it?

Do you have the virtue toolkit installed and activated?
Are you using any other plugins? If so deactivate to test that they are not overriding the gallery.
The demo you linked to is using the free theme. This type of gallery is part of the virtue toolkit and the free theme.

So I just found the solution myself…
The override function was removed in Virtue v2.2.6, so I had to download the Kadence Virtue / Pinnacle ToolKit plugin… now it works!

Sorry, one more thing: When an image opens in the lightbox, it shows below “1 of 2”. Could you tell me where to modify that description? I’d like to change the word “of” to german.

This is possible in the premium theme from the options panel. In free you need to translate the themes pot files for german. You can use a plugin like this: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/loco-translate/
