Image hover caption with Category Thumbnail List plugin

I use the Category Thumbnail List plugin to create a “gallery” of post thumbnails with link to the individual post, created automatically by categories.

Here is an example from my site:

I want the caption to appear only on mouseover, like this:
http://coryschires.com/jquery-hover-caption-plugin/

The Category Thumbnail List uses shortcode and I cannot figure out how to create the mouseover effect.

Do you know a plugin or other that will help me create:
– thumbnail created gallery where post thumbnails are automatically added
– mouseover effect on the images that shows image caption
