Image Map where to begin | ww.wp.xz.cn

Need to know where to paste the Javascript instructions on the page containing the image map. So far the hotspots only produce the required image on a new page. Just about every example has failed for me. Clearly the blindingly obvious solution has escaped my sight. Would appreciate any help with focussing on a guaranteed solution.
