image not showing up using thumb.php

I recently started using the Thrilling Theme on wordpress which uses
thumb.php to resize pictures. Instead of the featured photo for the blog
post showing up, a link to the blog post shows up. You can see that here
(notice the orange link above the main title – it should be the location of
the photo):

My host is godaddy – so the fixes people have been using with Hostgator
aren’t working for me (I have contacted godaddy twice and they say it is an
issue with wordpress or the script, but not godaddy).

I am using the most recent version of wordpress and of the Thrilling Theme.
