I’m using LiteSpeed Cache and want to use its Image Optimization feature to convert all my JPEG images (around 100) to WebP/AVIF. I have a question: Can I convert the images in small batches—like 10–12 at a time, specifically the ones I want to convert to WebP/AVIF—to avoid any crashes? Or does it have to be done in bulk only? Also, if I upload new images to my media library, will LiteSpeed Cache automatically optimize and convert them to WebP/AVIF? I’d really appreciate it if you could help clear up my confusion.

by default , first run will optimize 1 image per batch , then increase little , like 5 or 10 per batch, then increase again , like 100 , then reach final number , 200 per batch

the image optm will also create backup file (unless you explicitly turn it off) , so it won’t “crash” , worst case of scenario is just image optm doesn’t run , but it won’t create problem to your site.

assuming you enable auto optimize option , and your wp cron is running , then yes , after you upload new images , it will attempt to optimize it , automatically

yes , it will be run by the cron job , so it is important to make sure your wp-cron is triggered in time
