Image posts include unwanted blank space

    I have posted images to my installation and they always include a blank trailing line when they’re displayed on the home page of the blog. I would like to know how the image posts can be formatted to a “tighter” fit. The side of the images are automatically re-sized to fit without a problem. Just the bottom (footer?) shows up with an extra line or space.

    I haven’t been able to find anything that might be creating this unwanted space. I can edit code or CSS if I’m told what to look for.

    This is not new to WP 4.1, it behaved the same under 3.8.3
