• Hi Jason, I had a quick question about when Imsanity fires.

I am limited by my host to memory_limit: 64MB.

When uploading images over about 6 MegaPixels (6 million pixels), WordPress simply doesn’t have enough memory to upload the image and manipulate it to get the various thumbnail sizes.

Unfortunately, Imsanity doesn’t appear to have helped this as I had hoped. I was just curious at which stage of the game does Imsanity start it’s work? Is it before WordPress starts crunching? I was hoping Imsanity would allow me to upload larger images and then resize them before WordPress got hold of them to crunch them into thumbnails.

    Thanks!

  • Imsanity does do it’s thing before WordPress generates the metadata and thumbnails. It hooks into the API immediately after the image is uploaded.

64Mb is probably small for large images as PHP does tend to hog memory when uploading files. That’s a tough one if you’re not able to override that setting.
