Image source disappearing from code?

I’m having difficulty linking an image within a page.

This is what I’m entering and what the code looks like prior to saving:

‘<div style=”text-align: center”><“appropriate link coding”><img src=”appropriate image source code”></div>’

I enter that code into the html editor and click update, the pic shows up in the editor and I think “all is well”.

Then I click save and the code reverts to this and the pic is not visible on the page:

‘<div style=”text-align: center”><“appropriate link coding><!– –></div>

I’ve also tried placing the pic and linking it via the “buttons” on the text editor, however that doesn’t work. Upon entering the link information, a new window opens up with the following in the address bar:

I’m at a loss and if there is anyone out there that has experienced the same issue and knows how to correct it, I’d appreciate your help.
