Since doing the recent upgrade to the slider I noticed that all newly added Instagram images show up in my media library, but no longer appear in my WordPress uploads folder. The uploads folder retains all the Instagram images I did not delete prior to the update, but nothing after that date. When I do backups the old Instagram photos show up in the backup zip file but none of the newly added Instagram images are in that zip file. I searched around the directories on my site but haven’t found the WordPress location where they are being stored.

When I installed the slider upgrade, there was a new option to Save in Media Library and that is indeed turned on – I believe it was the default. There is also a button to Remove duplicate images but I never clicked it.

Where are new Instagram images being stored?

  • The problem with saving images would cause the script the crash in many servers and therefore was removed altogether.

If the images are not being saved “locally,” why are images showing up in my media library visually, but not showing up physically in backups?

I noticed that the changelog states that version 1.41 “Modified the function that saved images localy to only save as attachments”. But I don’t understand how or where these attachments are stored.

I now see that the image URLs point at Instagram — but the images are still showing up in my WordPress Media Library. I have a rotation of my most recent 10 Instagram photos. As new photos are added by the slider, the old ones remain in the library. Is there a setting to automatically delete those old ones from the library?

OK, I upgraded to 1.43 (didn’t realize there had been another update so soon) and saw the button to add images to library, which was on by default. Turned it off and we’ll see how it goes.

    Thanks.
