When settings >>> Compress JPEG & PNG images set to “Compress new images in the background (Recommended)” – All is fine.

When settings >>> Compress JPEG & PNG images set to “Compress new images during upload” – when uploading an image to the media library I get HTTP error. The file actually shows in the library but not functioning and no thumbnail.

It is worth mentioning that this has happened on both the native media library and through elementor (which uses the native media library) BUT if I finish my Elementor session, go to settings, set “Compress new images in the background (Recommended)” and then IMMEDIATELY back to “Compress new images during upload” – problem is solved, till my next session of Elementor.

Any suggestions? PLEASE help, I’m being overcharged for false uploads 🙁

Hi @liortalmor, we did some tests with the Elementor plugin by adding images and publishing pages but it seems all is fine and images get optimized fine in our test environment. Both with background compression and also immediately during upload.

If you like we can have a look at your setup, but it would require login credentials to both WordPress admin and your server, so we can maybe debug your environment.
