Hi @mschrauf,
It looks like it’s all a WordPress issue: https://core.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/ticket/14459
Nothing we can control unfortunately 🙁
Thanks for the link to the issue. However, this one is already fixed.
When I deactivate the plugin, the rotation of the image works correctly. As soon as I enable the plugin again, the image is upside down after upload. So it is not a bug of the core. It looks like it’s all a Plugin issue. 😉
Hi, @mschrauf,
Our plugin removes the EXIF data, and according to these notes, WordPress automatically rotates uploaded photos according to the EXIF data.
Therefore, if the orientation is written in the EXIF data, it is normal that your image will be uploaded with the original (wrong) orientation if our plugin is installed.
I hope that clarifies it 🙂
Best,
Thank you for the explanation. That helps me further.
Would it not be possible that the EXIF data are not removed? Or that a checkbox is introduced where you can select whether the EXIF data should be removed or not.
Or it could be that the plugin rotates the image correctly and then removes the EXIF data.
Hi, @mschrauf,
You can do that with ShortPixel Image Optimizer. There you have the possibility to resize new uploads and keep the EXIF data. In addition, your images will be properly optimized 🙂
Cheers!
