We don’t currently have a plugin that handles a slider for the images within BD. There’s a solid body of evidence that while sliders LOOK cool (and clients like them), that users ignore them and they are largely worthless: http://conversionxl.com/dont-use-automatic-image-sliders-or-carousels-ignore-the-fad/

Is there a way to add a taxonomy to the images?

We don’t currently have a way to tag or categorize the images at this time. I’m not aware of a way to do that with any other plugin either.
Can I ask what you’re trying to do here? Maybe there’s another solution I can suggest.
I have to add my request for a slider capability to Myra’s
Telling clients that they shouldn’t want what they want is a good way to lose clients.
My clients want cool looking sliders.
Besides which, the article you reference is really irrelevant. It’s an article about marketing messages in slider, which is NOT what we’re talking about here.
