Images 404ing – folder 404

So the entire folder seems to be 404ing – The Captcha images are 404ing, if i upload images and try to navigate to them they 404. 500 Error. I’ve tried to delete the htaccess entirely but that didn’t help – I removed everything in the htaccess on my root (only to the wordpress info) and that didn’t help. Do I NEED the htaccess in the /wpcf7_captcha/ folder for this to work?
