Images are appearing on the Training page widget area, but are not automatically ingested as the Featured Image (despite the option being checked in “Options.”). If I click on the image, the dialogue box appears asking if I want to insert into the post, or set as featured image. No matter which option I choose, I get an error message at the top of the screen that says “Error – Image Could Not Be Saved” Also, after I have tried to process the image, I notice that the “Set Featured Image” link on the bottom right of the Post editor is gone/not available. I have to Update the post for that link to re-appear. The workaround is obviously to save the image, and then insert it via the Set Featured Image link, but I would certainly like MyCurator to handle this automatically.

Is this perhaps a Theme issue?

    Thanks?

MyCurator does try to grab the first image it can for the Featured Image if that option is checked. Some images though can’t be saved by the program and that is why you get the message. Usually this is not the case and most images can be saved.

Is this happening on a lot of posts with images from a lot of different websites or on images from a specific website? If the latter, then you might try several other articles from other websites. If the first, you could post a couple of web page links for articles you are having a problem with and I can check them out.

Thanks, Mike – I’ve been playing around with this further and it happens on every page I try to process, always the same as described above. I have tried all sorts of websites on this – probably a couple dozen by now. Always the same problem.

    Some URLs:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/07/your-money/for-retirees-a-second-career.html?ref=your-money&_r=0

I’ve decided that for my purposes, using the Option to publish the full page works better for me than editing/curating excerpts. I’m finding that the editing/curating route doesn’t always easily include links back to the original content, whereas publishing the full piece includes all the credits and references that lead back to the original material (and is faster).

Also, when I use that Option, the images in the original post ARE placed in my post, although the Post Editor only shows the MyCurator excerpt in the editing window. If I ignore that and Preview or Publish, I get the whole article with all the links and images.

All good, except that I don’t get the opportunity to CHOOSE for that first image to be the Feature Image – which is what I need. My theme uses a Magazine format that relies on the Featured Images, and if there are no Featured Images, I get placeholder graphics, which is unacceptable. See here: http://www.boomerreinvention.com/magazine/

FWIW, click on the placeholder thumbnails on the page and you’ll see the published articles with embedded images.

Again, even though I have set the Option for the first image to be automatically set as Featured Image, this does not happen.

BTW, if I use the Option to not publish the full page, and use the Post Editor to curate the text, I cannot get the image(s) to show up in the Published piece at all – it will not include them.

    Is this a Plug-in conflict?

    I am using:
    Akismet
    Facebook
    Jetpack
    ManageWP
    Seedprod Coming Soon Pro
    Wordpress SEO
    WP3 Total Cache
    WPedit
    WP Jump menu

Is it a Theme issue? I am using Enfold by Kriesi from Themeforest. (http://www.kriesi.at) Would you need to see any of the coded pages?

    Thanks for your help!

PS – in case you’re wondering, all of the posts with featured images are images that I saved out of the articles, and manually inserted as the featured images – a time-consuming process I was hoping to alleviate with your plug-in.

Hi – any update on my request? Thanks so much!

Sorry, I didn’t get an alert that you had responded until your last prompt. The links do work and featured images are saved on my test sites. If you could use our Contact Us page I need to exchange some private information to investigate further.

If you are not getting any images at all, then you need to check that the PHP option allow_url_fopen has been enabled by your host. This is a requirement or MyCurator will not be able to grab images.
