how do I Import categories from an .xml file

Hi,
the categories are just Custom Taxonomies so you can import them using any WP plugin that allows importing the taxonomies.
For example you can try the WP Import Export Lite plugin https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-import-export-lite/
