Import from file on server

    Hi, I’m creating a website in hosting space provided by my school. For reasons I won’t get into right now I cannot upload or modify files on the server using wp. I have gotten around this so far by manually uploading the files.

    Now I am trying to import the site from an xml file. I have the xml file on the server. However it only gives the option to upload from my computer. Is there some way to use a file on the server?

    If this is not implemented, would it be fairly easy to implement? I have some programming experience, but am new to web programming and php. If someone could point me in the right direction I could possibly figure it out within my time frame. I would be glad to share what I came up with.

    I have precisely the same issue. For security reasons, I cannot run an FTP server. I cannot therefore do an upload as part of the import. I have the file locally on the server. It used to be in an older version of wordpress that I could just import from a local file. I still (desperately) need to be able to do that.
