Well your P.S. is what I was going to suggest, but since you did that, then check the permission on the wp-admin/import folder and it’s contents.
See:
Changing_File_Permissions
P.S. there should be nine php files in the wp-admin/import folder.
P.S.S. you did do a browser refresh after uploading those files, correct?
Re: Browser refresh. Yes, did that.
Re: Nine .php files. Yes, there are nine.
Will check the file permissions. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, I’ll reinstall WP 2.2.
I’ll post my results.
Re: File permissions. They are okay. Now, I’ll try to reinstall.
However, when I go to my wp-admin/install.php, it’s just a blank page.
Any wisdom for me?
Okay. Instead of reinstalling, I tried removing the wp-admin/import files (e.g. wordpress.php, mt.php, blogger.php) and reuploading them. When I first tried it, I removed all nine, added all nine, then tried. No fix.
Then, I just removed all nine and uploaded the wordpress.php (since that’s the only one I need). Voila! It works. So, I checked to see which file was the problem and found that the following 3 files prevent the import page options from showing up:
- blogger.php
- dotclear.php
- greymatter.php
Thanks for your help.
Okay. Another problem…When I click on the WordPress import option, the page (below the header and navigation bar) is blank.
Can anyone help on this one? Much appreciated.
Make sure you are uploading those PHP files in ASCII or text mode.
Thanks for the feedback, MichaelH. I checked my FTP settings, and it is set to upload PHP files in ASCII mode.
Anything else?
If not, how should I go about reinstalling? Can I just do a quick reinstall or do I need my host to clear the database (I don’t have access to do it myself)?
Okay, this problem is resolved now. I have no idea how, but…
Yesterday, it wasn’t working. Today, I check my FTP settings and see that they are okay. Then, I thought, “What the heck…I’ll just give it a shot again.” And whatta ya’ know? It works. Good things come to those who wait, eh?
Thanks, MichaelH, for your help.
Hi there,
Thanks for solution, I followed your post and now got rid of this bug.
Thanks!
wierd – removing the same three files from my import folder fixed exactly the same problem
Yep I had the same problem and the fix above fixed it! Question though, I’m importing from a Serendipity blog. What file do I import from my Serendipity blog?
