Import Textpattern to WordPress

    Using WP 2.0.4 and Textpattern 4.0.3

    I have moved my WP database into my Textpattern DB because a few threads have made this suggestion and say it works, however, I am still having trouble getting anywhere.

    I keep receiving the following:

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/*****/public_html/testbed/wp-admin/admin-header.php:16) in /home/*****/public_html/testbed/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 310

    followed by

    Error establishing a database connection

    This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

    If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

    So this makes it look like it is a simple matter of checking the config file. The only trouble is – there is nothing wrong there. I have checked it a hundred times.

    So if anyone who has tried this before has any ideas or come across the same problems and knows a solution, it would be very nice to hear from you.

    Just an update for anyone else who gives this a try. I have tried all I know and simply cannot get the importer in WP to work.

    I will be staying with TextPattern for now it seems.

    I’ve recently imported my whole database from the current TXP-Installation into the current WP-Installation without any problems. The database should be the same for both, WP and TXP.

    But there is one bad thing I would like to tell you: the entries are imported in textile-format, which means that you need the textile-plugin to display them correctly.

    My suggestion: try to update both versions WP and TXP and try the WP-Importer for TXP-articles – it works perfectly fine.
