Import Users From not WordPress Databas

Hi !

First of all, thank you for your great plugin !

I had a website with a thousand users. This website was not a WordPress one.
Now, I’ve recreated this website with WordPress and want to import all my old users. But the most important thing is that each user keep his ID because I have to link users with their posts.

How can I import my users with their ID ?

For the password, do I have to do something to encrypt it ?

Also, will the users receive a mail when they’ll be recreated ? I don’t want that because the website is still in a beta version.
