Importing from RSS

I’m just setting up a WP blog and would like, if possible, to import the old posts from my old blog – which was run in Squishdot (a Zope-based thing).

As far as I can see, that means importing comment using RSS.

Is it possible to point the import-rss.php script at a feed hosted elsewhere?

If not, will it work if I just copy and paste the contents of the feed into a file and point import-rss.php at that file?

And finally – does it automatically pick up category information? at the moment the posts are marked with dc:content tags, but I can easily change it to something else – is there anything that WP would recognise and use as a category for the post?
