Importing issues

I run two wordpress sites

mysite.com

mysite.com/test

mysite is my production site and mysite.com/test is my developmental site.

I can not import into mysite.com/test. I wanted to take an exact copy of production site and make some modifications.

I keep getting a message that states the pages are already created. I believe the importer is trying to import into my production site rather then my test site even though I am running the plugin through the dashboard of my test site.

Is there a way to direct where the imported files are to go and what directory should they be pointed at?

Or is there another method to import my pages?
