    Hi.

I’m trying to import my posts from my wordpress.com and I keep getting this error when I try and upload my exported file.

Sorry, there has been an error.

Unable to create directory /home/a2638275/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2008/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    The “parent” is wp-content.
    writable = chmod 777 (permissions)

    ??? I don’t know what that means.

    How do I fix it?

go to your wordpress files in your server admin panel. right click on the “content” file. go to “permissions” and change the number there to 777. that will allow you to upload.

Changing_File_Permissions – always read the documentation, instead of mindless posts like

    p.s. wp-content is a folder, not a file – note for newlifebernville.

How come when I hit export and save, it shows up as a file?

OK I just need to know one thing. Where is permissions?

PLEASE for crying out loud, will you just CLICK on *any* of the links people post for you?

Look up there, it’s blue in moshu’s post.

    (@coreybishop)

    I did click that.

Thing is, you don’t have permissions on your right click on 000webhost. It’s on the side. However, it doesn’t show the numeric value but I’ll look again to keep you happy.

    I did click that.

That’s not enough. You have to read it, too. And re-read it – if it’s necessary to understand.

If your FTP client doesn’t do this easily, get one that does.

(I wouldn’t have said anything if I hadn’t already pulled my hair out with you trying to get you to read links posted right there in your thread)

What I’m saying is, there is no spot on 000webhost to change my permissions number. Nor is it there on my right click.

    … lost cause.

Do I need to post screen shots? I’ve done everything that link told me to do, but it’s not showing the numeric value.
