I am able to update the plugin regularly without any problems on many different websites and several different servers. Any issue you have is almost certainly due to something on your local WP install.
Delete the plugin folder at wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/ using FTP (don’t use Delete option on Plugins page as this may erase all CF7 forms) and install the plugin again.
Thanks buzztone, that is what I have been doing with each update. This is the only plugin that has ever caused me this much grief when trying to update. There are many WP users who don’t have a good grasp of the behind the scenes workings of WordPress. This is a complex plugin and as such users may find that they have trouble updating.
Thanks for the advice, but I stand by my review. Buyer beware!
@tinmitra – with currently over 6 million active websites, it is inevitable that some users, like yourself, will have problems updating Contact Form 7 due to issues on their particular WordPress install.
Hopefully others reading this review will also consider my very different point of view.
I’ve used this plug-in on at least 50 different WordPress sites on several different servers for a few years now, and it’s always been a simple and fast “click to upgrade” in the admin dashboard with never even one problem. (After ‘click to upgrade’ became available on the later versions of WordPress.) Best wishes for you in discovering whatever it is that causing a problem for your upgrades.
