Include category children?

Hey Dave,

The randomiser doesn’t (currently) take into account child categories for its pool of eligible pages or posts. Definitely could be a useful option to add for a future release.

Unfortunately, I had a quick look through the codebase to refresh my memory, and it looks like implementing the cascading parent-child query will be a non-trivial piece of work. So, on my radar, but not likely to get to it in a very short span of time, sorry to say.

There is a plugin that claims to let you “Auto select parent categories when a sub category is selected” here: https://en-gb.ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/category-parent-children-selector/ — haven’t tested it, but that could help with automation going forward.

To back-fill parents from child-only-assigned categories, there appears to be this bit of Stackexchange code: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/133627/assign-parent-category-to-all-posts-that-are-already-assigned-to-child-category — again, back everything up and use with caution.
