Incompatibility with Amazon Associates Link Builder plugin
-
Amazon Associates Link Builder (AALB) is Amazon’s official plugin for building links for products on a WordPress site. It’s sort of okay, though it does have problems in its own right (for instance, working fine for UK, France and Germany, but failing to work for US and Canada) — but that’s another issue for another post.
What’s of most significance for readers here is that it breaks Caldera forms. When AALB is active, if I go to Caldera and click “New form”, I’m given the expected page with the various links at the top. Out of the top row of links, only “Preview Form” works. If, for instance, I start with one of Caldera’s templates, it will show that form correctly in a new tab. HOWEVER, none of the links on the next line work (Pages, Email, Processors, etc) nor, crucially, do the buttons “Add Page” and “Add Field”. If I click and drag “Add Field”, nothing happens — the button just springs back to where I drag it from.
When AALB is deactivated, Caldera works perfectly. When it’s activated again, it does not.
SOLUTION: *Either* use Amazon Associates Link Builder to make your Amazon Associates links and then use a different form builder, *or* build your Amazon Associates links with a different plugin (such as Paul Stuttard’s “Amazon Link”) and continue using Caldera. I’ll probably go the second route, because Amazon’s own link builder is not that great anyway, whereas Caldera is AWESOME!
Hope this helps.
