Incompatible with my theme

My theme does not seem to be compatible with Blog Designer. I am wondering if it is because I have Bold Grid built in and am using one of their themes thru WP. The theme is called Venetian. I have tried to use two different blog designer layouts as well as the single post layout option. I also tried editing my Settings under Blog from the “A Static Page”..Front Page: Home, Posts Page: Blog to Your Latest Posts. When I use the first option, for the static page, it alters my entire theme and messes up my background. When I change it to Your Latest Posts, everything looks normal but the template layouts from Blog Designer. I love my theme and I would rather not change it. Is there anything more I can do?
