Hi
a couple of things
a) as it’s easy enough the next version (v2.9.4.3) will/should also work , at least from what i can see and have tested here, with the current version (1.99.30) of the Codestyling Localization plugin .
Having said that…..
Codestyling Localization:
Compatible up to: 3.5.2
Last Updated: 2013-2-6
0 of 12 support threads in the last two months have been resolved.
……
so it doesnt really look like it’s being maintained as such anyway
b)
> That makes it impossible to create a new language entry for your plugin
sorry, but that’s of course not true. just use poedit for example and create as many languages as you like .
Personally , I don’t even quite understand the need for a plugin that essentially does what poedit (or similar translation software packages) does.
Sure , there’s some convenience in having this functionality in your wordpress admin, but do you really need to run these functions in your admin all the time and need a plugin to create po/mo files ?
anyway , just my two cents for the time being.
At the end of the day ‘Codestyling Localization’ seems to be reasonably popular and – although I hadn’t actually even heard of it until your message – I might as well make wppizza compatible as it does not really interfere with any functionality or performance of wppizza anyway and just requires one variable to be changed into a constant …..
right then I shut up now 🙂
look out for version 2.9.4.3 (later today / tomorrow) and it should be fine i would have thought
No of course not, but it just makes it very easy. The script analyzes the php files of the theme and I can create new languages plus translating the string much quicker.
For all people experiencing the same problem: The plugin works fine and creates a working .po file. But after leaving the screen of the newly added language, the newly added language is gone again. So you would have to start translating all over again. But it works if you translate all needed strings in one step.
And thanks for the fast reply/fix! 🙂

i assume you are now talking about the version prior to 2.9.4.3 (i.e the version you were referring to initially) as I do not experience that issue with the v2.9.4.3 anymore (just saying)
be aware though, that if you add a new translation not yet implemented in the plugin, you will probably loose it when you update wppizza, unless you send me that translation for me to add to the plugin by default…
so definitely always backup your translations regardless and/or send them to me
Yea, the old version. Sorry, I didn’t see you released the new one already.
I will update after I made a backup and let you know how it goes.
no worries…( i figured as much)
keep me posted if you have issues. happy to fix things if possible/necessary
The Update from v2.9.4.2 -> v2.9.4.3 worked fine. My translated language strings were gone though, like expected.
To get them back just copy the previosly saved 2 language files…
wppizza-locale-de_DE.mo
wppizza-locale-de_DE.po
…to the folder /wp-content/languages/plugins/ and the translations are back and working again.
Aight thanks ollybach, awesome support!
good stuff….
if you ever find the time to translate the lot of it into german, feel free to send me the po/mo file and i’ll add it to the plugin so you dont have to worry about loosing things on update
(of course there’s a way to not loose translations on update , but it’s actually – for the time being anyway – done by design that way so people send me their languages/translations for the benefit of all…..)
Firstly I wanted to deny, but now I’m translating already 😀 I think I will finish it in 30-60 minutes.
I have a question in return though. I want the order form to be always visible, even when the shop is closed or when my cart is empty. I have never seen the form before haha
Is there some kind of handy hook to use? I never used hooks, so a little code snippet would be awesome.
>Is there some kind of handy hook to use
as the order from is – typically anyway – just a shortcode on a page, just ad that page to your menu (and uncheck exclude from navigation in order settings )
or am i misundertanding ?
PS: ~4500 words in 60 minutes ? blimey . i’m impressed
Well I tend to exaggerate a bit 😀
No, let me show you an example: https://www.telepizza.de/order/telepizza/1/index.htm?knddomain
Basically the order form on that website is always visible, even when the shop is closed and/or the cart is empty. In WPPizza I just get the message that my cart is empty, but the orderpage-widget stays hidden.
So basically I want all input’s and even the submit button to be always shown on my my website. Even if it is not possible to pre-order in WPPizza yet. That’s btw another feature I would really like to see, even when I think that people don’t really pre-order fast food.
BTW: Does your postcode plugin work in a similar way? I will definitly need a solution for that, thought about self-coding it till I saw your plugin.
i tell you what.
i need a bit of sleep first , but send me an email to dev[at]wp-pizza.com and I’ll send you some more info about stuff and some other things that are not released yet (and we are going a bit off topic here anyway)
Sleep, good idea 😀 I will send you a mail later, thanks and good night!
last thing here though:
i don’t understand the point or reason why you would want a page/sidebar that displays fields for name, address etc if you cannot order things at that moment in time anyway ?
either way, drop me a line and let’s have a one to one conversation about this for the time being
