• Hello,
I setup the latest version of WP on a new subdomain and am trying to get a 100% accurate install of the ‘Blogger’ demo on my OceanWp themed site. I’ve installed all the required updated plugins, except the Sticky Header plugin, then used the OceanWP steps in Theme Panel to do a complete install of ‘Blogger’.
I’m particularly interested to see the four collum post, home page layout as seen in the demo site example. It appears that all the media was loaded as are the post and ‘page’ pages.
I have Elementor installed. When I preview the Home page there is only a single post displayed. When I view the page structure in Elementor it doesn’t display a page filled with four collums.
What must I change in order to have an identical install to the Blogger demo?

When the original layout is finally achieved, can I save the home page as a ‘template’ to be used for future post collum pages?

    Thank you

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

Go to Customize > Blog > Blog Entry and select full-width layout. From the same panel, find the blog entry style and select 4 columns.

    Amit,
Thank you very much for the tip. Yes. your settings allowed the display of four collums as in the original demo page.
When I open the Home page in Pages and select preview I do see the four collum page. However on the Edit page there’s no option to view the page in Elementor? How do I add elements to the page?
I was hoping to save the four collum Post page as a template to re-use.
What would be the easiest way to build my site with a blog page using the front page of demo site ‘Blogger’, a Home page using home page of site ‘Architect’, and a store page using front page of ‘Store’?
    Thanks

It’s a default blog page, therefore, you can’t edit it with Elementor. Create custom templates under Theme Panel > My library and copy the shortcode.
Now edit blog page > oceanwp settings metabox > shortcode tab and add copied shortcode where you want to display it.

This option is available in the pro version of the theme which has an elementor widget ‘Blog Grid’. You can use it to create four column post template using Elementor.

I never try this but you need to install demos on different sites. Export the template you like from them and import it to your main site.

    Amit,
    I have another related question.
As I mentioned, when I loaded the Blogger demo site I could view the blog post home page in Preview, but could not view the layout structure of sections and collums in the Elementor view.
Is this the standard for all imported demo sites, that the pages can be used as-is and seen in Preview, but the layout structure is not displayed for customization?
Or, is this just because I’m using the basic, non-pro version of OceanWP?

Could you provide me a link where I could view all the variant post grid layouts when using OceanWP Pro?
Would you also have a link to where Elementor displays the post grid layout variants when using their Pro version of the page builder?

I’m trying to compare OceanWP+Elementor, with OceanWP+WPBakeryPagebuilder in terms of which provides the most options and control over post grid layouts as used in newspapers/magazines.
    Thanks

    Hello,

Since the blog grid layout on the home page is only for the posts page. You can’t use it on other pages.

To use blog grid layout in other pages, you need a widget. See here Blog Grid widget and other available widgets – https://elementor.oceanwp.org/blog-grid/
