Hi, @alittlebitoffiddle.
Our installation information (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/the-events-calendar/#installation) links to our New User Primer, which should get your calendar up-and-running at yoursite.com/events (or whatever slug you give it, such as yoursite.com/calendar)
If I’m understanding what you’re wanting to do, https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/how-to-make-your-calendar-your-sites-home-page/ details how-to.
If you need to ask a “how to” support question in the future — whether for our plugin or any other on ww.wp.xz.cn — please use the appropriate channel (the .org forum) instead of leaving a 1-star review.
Hopefully the information I shared here will get you the result you are wanting and you’re thankful for the quick help and built-in ability to do exactly what you want and you’ll think that deserves a swift upgrade from 1 to 5. We work hard to provide quality products and support and sure would appreciate your positive review! 🙂
To clarify my prior reply, that’s how to set the calendar as your home page.
Rereading your question, if you’re wanting to embed the yoursite.com/events calendar (which is technically a custom post type archive view, not a page), then you would need our Events Calendar PRO upgrade to get our widgets and shortcodes.
The one you’d be looking for is PRO’s [tribe_events] shortcode: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/embedding-calendar-views-tribe_events-shortcode/
