increasing search performance, limit posts searched.

    can somebody suggest a way to limit increase search performance by limiting search to go only 10 days back for example, i.e not search any posts posted more than 10 days ago.

    That should increase search performance ?

    Or for example, how to make it not show more than 100 results, again hopefully increasing performance ?
