Inline language menu

Hi,

I’m having problems with figuring out how to configure the menu to display inline, with or without current language active, and I’d like to avoid too much CSS acrobatics if it can be helped.
I’ve tried using widget options and had no success with that as well as the_widget() method which didn’t seem to work at all (placing it in functions.php at least).

We’re using two languages only if it matters. I’d really appreciate help or thoughts on how best to approach this problem.
