Instagram API down error

    The instagram feed works perfectly on my local development server, but when I deployed it to a live server for my clients to review, I get the “Instagram’s API is down” error. I know the API is not down since it’s working fine on my local server. I have already tried clearing the cache and adding in my own API access token, as recommended. Any insight as to why it still fails? Thanks!

    I solved my own problem — my server did not have the php cURL extension enabled.

    Could I recommend a “debug-mode” for developers? I had to dig through the source and use trial & error to resolve this. The error message was not really accurate (Instagram’s API was not, in fact, down), and it had me looking in the wrong places.

    Anyway, all is well now!

    Glad you figured it out.. sorry it was a pain!

    And yes we do need to put in a few more options to catch errors like that. Right now I was going to ask you for the report from the System Info page and see if anything was missing. It would have shown that cURL was not installed, but yeah some error notice to save this forum time is the best idea.
