    I use your plugin on several websites and regularly the feed is disconnected. I have to connect it again each time. It’s very problematic.

    Apparently, I’m not the only one in this situation.

    What’s the problem ?

    Thank you for contacting us for help with your Instagram feed constantly disconnecting. When you connect your feed to Instagram, an access token is created. This access token shares permissions across all sites that you have connected Instagram feeds to. It is linked to your Instagram/Facebook account. If any permission is changed – say you are added as an admin on an Instagram page, set the plugin up, then later your Instagram admin access is revoked, this will be logged as a security change, and your access token will be invalidated.

    Below are some common reasons an access token may be invalidated:

    • Instagram Administrator password changes,
    • Addition or removal of Instagram or Facebook Administrators
    • An outdated Instagram Feed Plugin
    • If your feed isn’t viewed by website visitors for over 14 days
    • If your page has age restricted content such as alcohol, tobacco and Firearms
    • If Instagram/Facebook detects unusual/suspicious activity on your account, among other things.

    The feed disconnections are initiated on Instagram’s side, and we do not have control over them. However, we try to make the reconnection process as easy as possible. Here are the feed reconnection steps again for convenience:

    • Please go to WordPress Dashboard > Instagram Feed > Settings
      Remove the connected account(s) by clicking the red trash icon.
    • Click the Save Settings button.
    • Click the Add Source button, click the blue Connect button, and follow the connection wizard.
    • Once your source has been added, click the Save Changes button.
    • For any existing feed, go to the specific feed options > Settings > Sources, delete the existing source, select the newly connected source, and click “Save”. Screencast: https://a.supportally.com/v/2UPrPY

    If you are having difficulty reconnecting your feed, there is usually an issue specific to your set up causing this. First try reconnecting the feed with a different browser, with all other WordPress plugins deactivated. If you still encounter issues, let us know and we’ll help you reconnect your feed.
