the name of the file needs to be wp-config.php
Yes I know , it is. I just shorthanded the post.
ok, but that’s not what you said 🙂
is it in the right directory?
What error messages are displayed?
I get a message that the file is not there, but it is.
I did not change the file structure after I unzipped the files.
And you’re positive that it’s wp-config.php in the root wordpress directory and NOT wp-config-sample.php or config.php
I entered correct information in the wp-config-sample.php and changed the name to wp-config.php and saved. uploaded all files and folders , did not change the file structure. chmod 777 the config file. I use a UNIX server.
Got the puppy running by chmod 777 the entire directory folder and setting up the database via web. When I changed the permissions to 666 or 766 to secure, it blew up and can’t even find the theme files. I guess it is back to Boast Machine.
