install fails

    I tried to install the plugin several times on my WordPress site, which is still in version 3.5 and something.
    How can I clone that site if I cannot upload the plugin?
    Is there a version which goes with this older version of WordPress? I wanted the backup to restore it to a new site with the newest version.
