Most websites will not already have a wp-admin .htaccess file so there will be nothing to back up. Once you do the setup steps below a new wp-admin .htaccess file will be created for your website.
Setup steps
— Click the Create default.htaccess File button.
— Click the Create secure.htaccess File button.
— Activate BulletProof Mode for your Root folder.
— Activate BulletProof Mode for your wp-admin folder.
OK great thank you very much. Now that I’ve completed the steps you listed above should I now try and do the .htaccess file backup again?
Also this now appeared : WP Super Cache is activated, but either you are not using WPSC mod_rewrite to serve cache files or the WPSC .htaccess code was NOT found in your root .htaccess file. Is this something important I need to correct or is it fine as is?
Is there anything else I should do or know about or am I set to go?
Thanks again I appreciate it

And after you do that above then you can do the htaccess file backup.

Assume that this can be resolved? If not, please post a status update. Thanks.
Hey there sorry for the delay in response.
I have no idea what mod_rewrite is so I suppose it would be better to not use it then?

mod_rewrite means use .htaccess caching code. it is actually a little faster than php caching. You will find these options under WP Super Cache settings.
Gotcha. I just decided not use it and followed the instructions you had listed.
Should I backup the .htaccess and bps master .htaccess files?
Thanks a lot for your help

Yep, that is perfectly fine. In WP Super Cache website performance Benchmark tests there was only a difference of milliseconds between using mod_rewrite or php caching. Yep, backup your active htaccess files (root and wp-admin), but backing up the Master files is now obsolete these days. Do the Master files backup just to get rid of the Red Font messages saying this needs to be done. Eventually we will phase this out entirely. 😉
OK great! And thanks for the quick and helpful responses, most appreciated.
