I have two wordpress installations on my host and am trying to install a third. I downloaded latest wordpress, edited config.php, using the existing config.php files from my other installations for MySql settings, usetname and password, but adding a different $table_prefix so I can use the same database as the others. I cannot get …/wp-admin/install.php to come up in a browser. I know it’s trying, I do not get a “cannot be found” message, just a blank page. Any hints on what I might be missing? Thanks for the troubleshooting help!

It is definitely my FTP client, I will fix that and let you know how it goes tomorrow. Thank you so much for the help!

I am completely new to WordPress.

I “think” its already installed with the company I have my web hosting with.

I have received my confirmation e mail telling me my new wordpress site has successfully been set up and telling me I can log in to the administrator account.

However when I tried to log in it says I have attempted a lot of log ins and asked me to fill the captcha. It then says I entered the wrong captcha and when it asks me to enter another (to prove I am a human!) theres no capthca box appearing.

Although this shouldn’t make any real difference I’m on an iMac.

Any help would be truly and greatly appreciated.

Hi, Esmi, thanks for your help! My FTP wasn’t working because I’d exceeded my limit of data on my server. So as usual it was my fault!
Once I fixed that though, the wordpress install worked so perfectly I was sure I must be dreaming. I appreciate the help you put out on the web, you helped me work through this.Anyway, I can’t wait to go post!

Glad to hear that you got this all sorted. Happy WordPress’ing. 🙂
