    WIN 7 / WP 4.9.10
Installation worked, but activation failed. Message:
Fatal error: Cannot declare class DUP_Settings, because the name is already in
    use in /home4/moneygen/public_html/bizboom/wp-
    content/plugins/duplicator/classes/class.settings.php on line 14

It’s a brandnew WP installation, I did not yet create any content, all needed setups and configuration first.

After activation failed, the delete of plugin did not work either. So I deleted it manually in my c-panel file manager. Is that correct, or does the plugin write to the database, so I have to restore from my backup not only the plugins, but the the database, or the whole site altogether?

What could have caused this error? I used Duplicator on my other WP sites flawlessly??

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • The error should only show if the plugin was already installed or there is another plugin somewhere that is using that exact class name. Typically you can just remove the directory /plugins/duplicator/ from your cPanel and that should be good enough.

    Hope that helps~

Thanks for the nice and quick response!

The Duplicator was not installed before.
So it looked like a conflict with another plugin.
    I deactivated all plugins.
Then I activated Duplicator flawlessly. No error.
Then I activated all other plugins one by one (49!!), always after each activation activating and deactivating Duplicator in order to find out, what the conflicting plugin was.
After activating all plugins again, there was no conflict found!!!!
    How strange is that??
Well, everything works now and is fine, but I hate, when I don’t understand, why …
    Any idea, what happened here?

It could possibly be a PHP cache issue. If it happens again try to login/log out of your admin and disable any cache plugins (if installed). Then try the install process again.

    Hope that helps~
