Installation Error
-
Context: I’m attempting to install a copy of WordPress onto a website that I operate. The version is 3.1, though I’ve operated other wordpress sites before, this is the first time I’ve installed one myself, I’ve been following the included README to the dot to get it running (“/wordpress/readme.html”), and I’ve encountered an error. I figured, based on the contents of the README (I’ve reached Step 3 of installation), that my first point of call should be here — “Once the configuration file is set up, the installer will set up the tables needed for your blog. If there is an error, double check your wp-config.php file, and try again. If it fails again, please go to the support forums with as much data as you can gather.”

Problem: Rather than continuing the installation process, this message is displayed — “One or more database tables are unavailable. The database may need to be repaired.” — So far as I’m aware, there should not yet be any WordPress tables in existence, as I have not yet completed the installation. Any help in having my understanding the problem here would be greatly appreciated. Kudos.
