Hello Team,

I have research all the sites I can find and read all the post I can but non seems to help me with the solution of this problem.

These are the actions I have taken so far:
1.Changed permissions on my wp-content folder in WordPress – no success
2. Updated wp-config fill with define (‘FS_METHOD’, ‘direct’); – no success
3. Changed the permissions to 755 and 644 – no success

Can someone please help me out.

If you are still not having any luck we can look into other options.

Liam, my challenge is not running WordPress on my Mac on the localhost. My issue is my inability to install plugins or update the theme. I get the error message “Installation failed. Could not create a directory”. Do you understand my challenge now?

This sounds like a permissions error.

I’d suggest using MAMP: https://www.mamp.info/

I use it now over XAMMP – no issues!

My fear is I will spend time to do this setup and then realize that the same issue will apply

@ Liam, I got around to installing mamp but the phpmyadmin just won’t comeup. Any ideas?

When you open http://localhost:8888/MAMP/ and click the Tools drop-down menu do you get PHPMyAdmin (needs PHP 5.5.x to 7.0.x)?

If you do, open MAMP Application and go to Preferences > PHP – followed by changing the PHP version to 7.0.15

It will restart the servers and you will now be able to access PHPMyAdmin via the Tools dropdown.

Thanks Liam,

Everything works perfectly now. Initially I had to use Localhost:8888/phpMyAdmin/?lang=en to get access to PhpMyAdmin but now it works perfectly. I am most grateful for your assistance.
