Hi @yachtchefjobs,
I can see you’re running into an installation failure when trying to install WooCommerce, specifically the “could not create directory” error, and I’ll help you get this sorted.
This type of error is almost always related to server file permissions or disk space, meaning WordPress is unable to write files to your /wp-content/upgrade/ directory during the install.
Here are the key things to check:
- File and folder permissions
Ensure your WordPress directories have the correct permissions:
- Folders should typically be
755
- Files should be
644
You can check and update this via your hosting file manager or FTP.
- Ownership (on some hosts)
If your server uses strict ownership rules, the files may not be owned by the correct user. In that case, your host can help adjust ownership so WordPress can write to those directories.
- Disk space
Confirm your hosting account has enough available disk space, as a full disk can also trigger this error.
- Try manual installation
As a workaround, you can install WooCommerce manually:

thanks, I fixed the issue by going to another of my domains in wordpress and adding woocommerce there. then used file manager to copy plugin folder to my other site and it worked!
thanks again!
