    Hello,
I’ve installed WP by using Fantastico with no problems. I can log in to the admin area and everything seems fine.
My problem is that when I try to view the blog page, I’m taken to my websites home page.
How do I set the url I want to use for my blog?

    Many thanks,
    Andrew

  • Where did you install WordPress on your site?

I believe I left all the settings to their default values. Hope that helps.

I think I may have installed WP incorrectly by leaving blank the field “Install in Directory”.

Could this be the cause of my problem and, if so, how do I resolve it?

Just to clarify, I installed WP into an existing website using Fantastico on cPanel.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

We need to know where on your site you installed WordPress to.

Sorry I can’t be any more specific – how do I find out where on my site I installed WP to?
Where would a default set-up install WP to?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
I asked my host initially and they said to ask WP!

After adding WP to a website, what would be the default URL of the blog and where is this setup and/or changed?

There is absolutely no way of figuring out the url without knowing where you installed WordPress on your domain.

You installed WordPress into the root directory of your site. You will have to install another WordPress installation through Fantastico again and make sure as you mentioned before to set the “Install in Directory” field as something other than nothing.

Do you think it would be better to un-install and then install again?

Best to uninstall and then do a new installation.

    Cheers.
The uninstall & install worked without any problems.
    I now have a blog!
    What to write about???

    That’s entirely up to you.
