installation – .htaccess – mod_rewrite

    I have this message at the bottom of my permalinks page:

    “If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all.”

    Do i just copy it in the htaccess file? Or replace the current text in the file? Does it matter where it is copied into?

    Any help much appreciated, I’m new to this!
