The short answer is “It really will not ever work and using MSSQL is not supported and has not ever been supported.”

The longer answer is that WordPress and all of it’s code was written for MySQL 5.5 or greater.

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/about/requirements/

Yes, technically the code could work with MSSQL if you changed every single reference to something that would work for your setup. But that’s thousands of references in the code and plugins still would have a problem.

Please consider using MySQL for your WordPress installation. You’ll save yourself hours of aggregation. 😉

The wordpress installation done with MSSQL using the following plugin
    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wordpress-database-abstraction/

But it can support up to wordpress 3.5.

In that case, I recommend asking at https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/wordpress-database-abstraction#postform so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

WordPress itself will never support a database type other than MySQL. If a plugin developer is offering something different, it’s up to them to support it.

Hey, I ran into this as well and spent time digging through the code to hopefully get to the point where I could log into the dashboard. I managed to get it up and working again, but I would not recommend running in production this way. If it works for you, use it to get your data out and move to a MySQL-based WordPress site instead.

Instructions are at the following GitHub Gist.
